All about Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the European Commission’s programme for education, training, youth and sport. Since 2014, Erasmus+ has been helping thousands of young people and organisations to expand their horizons abroad, develop their skills and more.

Young people

Erasmus+ opportunities for young people (from 13 to 30 years old) are designed to help them develop new skills, discover new cultures, learn new languages and gain valuable experience in a field that interests them.

Youth exchanges involve young people from one or more EU country taking part in a joint work programme, while volunteering opportunities abroad are available through the European Voluntary Service (EVS).

Students

Students can study abroad through Erasmus+, boosting their communication, language and inter-cultural skills in an exciting new environment. These study periods can range from 3-12 months and are available to students at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral candidate level.

Other student opportunities include traineeships abroad, which cover activities such as work placements and internships. Open to both current students and recent graduates, these traineeships can last from 2-12 months and allow young people to advance their skills while also experiencing different cultures.

Organisations

Erasmus+ offers a range of opportunities for organisations in the education, training, youth and sport fields. Higher education organisations can send their staff for training or to teach abroad. Teaching and training is also available for VET staff, school education staff, adult education staff and youth workers.

Funding is available for innovative projects designed to improve practices, in the form of strategic partnerships, Knowledge Alliances and Sector Skills Alliances. Capacity-building projects support the modernisation of higher education and the development of youth work and non-formal learning.
