Creating an account in the EURES portal is very easy and will only take minutes. You now have the option for a simplified registration, with only a password to login (Single-Factor Authentication or 1FA) or, in case you wish to fully secure your data, you may choose the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) login method.
Important: We STRONGLY recommend that you keep your Two-Factor Authentication method to fully protect your data against any breaches. 2FA method guarantees that to access your account, not only your password is needed, but also your phone.
Connecting with only a password (Single-Factor Authentication)
When doing this, you will be requested to create an EU login account with a password. Then, whenever you login, you only need to enter this password. This is called the Single Factor Authentication (1FA).
The Two-factor Authentication will be deactivated once 1FA is introduced. To keep your security level provided by 2FA, you will have to reset it back manually via your account options, as described in step 2.
Connecting with a password and a second validation method (Two-Factor Authentication)
If you wish to have a more secure account (highly recommended) in order to fully protect your data, you have the possibility to (re-)add a second factor authentication (2FA). This means that whenever you log in you have to introduce the chosen password, as well as a second method such as APP validation to be able to access the account.
Important: We recommend to use the EU mobile app verification method, as the Mobile Phone with SMS authentication method may not work for all countries.
To add 2FA, check the option “Always require multi-factor authentication” in your EU login account configuration (My Account> Configure my account).
By selecting “Always require multi-factor authentication” each time you log in, EU login will always ask the second factor to connect to your EURES portal account.
If you are unsatisfied with the Two-Factor Authentication, you can always go back. For this you can uncheck the option “Always require multi-factor authentication” in your EU login account, and you will only be required to introduce a password when connecting to the EURES portal.
After the system is switched to 1FA, and you don’t wish to activate 2FA, you can delete the definitions related to the Two-Factor Authentication in your EU login account (Remove ‘Mobile device’, ‘Mobile phone number’, ‘Security key’, ‘Trusted platform’, etc). In this case, the option “Always require multi-factor authentication” must be disabled in your EU login account configuration.
