Glastuinbouw Nederland

Greenhouse horticulture the Netherlands

  • Project

Rationale and aims

Glastuinbouw Nederland provides greenhouse horticulture employers with guidance and tools to manage a workforce that includes seasonal and other transnational workers. The focus is to promote  fair employment practices and safe working conditions. Through the development of a sector-specific e-book, the initiative aims to support employers in fulfilling their duty of care by improving recruitment, communication, and workplace safety for seasonal workers.

Support offered

Glastuinbouw Nederland provides employers with information on rights and obligations related to seasonal and transnational work, including through the sector’s collective labour agreement, and promotes safe and responsible employment practices. The initiative supports recruitment and retention by offering guidance on employment structures, and cooperation with public authorities and social partners. It also provides access to recruitment platforms, while the accompanying e-book offers practical guidance to help employers ensure safe and healthy working conditions for seasonal workers.

Target groups and eligibility

Glastuinbouw Nederland primarily targets greenhouse horticulture employers in the Netherlands who employ seasonal and other transnational workers. A secondary target group includes  employees and temporary agency workers in the sector. Access to the e-book is open, with no eligibility criteria specified.
