Rationale and aims
Vakbondssteun provides trade union support to seasonal and other mobile EU workers in the Netherlands. The service aims to improve working conditions and income through collective bargaining, enforcement, and individual assistance. It supports fair working conditions, income protection, and security for workers in sectors with flexible and seasonal employment.
Support offered
Vakbondssteun, in particular the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV) (Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging), provides integrated trade union support combining collective representation, individual advice, and legal assistance on issues such as pay, working hours, dismissal, and social security. The service offers information and support through sector-specific and multilingual online portals, a national contact centre, regional offices, and an online self-service platform.
Target groups and eligibility
Vakbondssteun targets workers in all sectors in the Netherlands, including economic migrants, with specific relevance for seasonal workers in agriculture, horticulture, and agency work. Information services are available to both members and non-members. However, full individual legal assistance is limited to FNV members subject to membership conditions and eligibility rules.
