‘Informationsblätter über die Rechte landwirtschaftlicher Arbeitnehmer:innen in Niederösterreich’

(Information sheets on rights of agricultural workers in Lower Austria)

  • Project

Rationale and aims

Informationsblätter über die Rechte landwirtschaftlicher Arbeitnehmer:innen in Niederösterreich provides multilingual information to seasonal agricultural workers in Lower Austria on their employment rights and obligations. It aims to improve understanding of working conditions, wages, social security, housing standards and access to legal advice, particularly for workers with limited knowledge of Austrian labour law or German proficiency.

Support offered

Informationsblätter über die Rechte landwirtschaftlicher Arbeitnehmer:innen in Niederösterreich provides multilingual information sheets available online and distributed by mail. The information sheets explain key employment rights, working conditions, wages, health insurance, leave entitlements, employer-provided accommodation standards and access to legal counselling. The service also connects seasonal workers to free advice and representation offered by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agricultural Workers and provides information on available financial support measures for eligible workers.

Target groups and eligibility

The service is intended primarily for foreign seasonal agricultural workers employed in Lower Austria, including workers from EU Member States and third countries, as well as domestic and non-seasonal agricultural workers. Almost all seasonal agricultural and forestry workers in Lower Austria are automatically members of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agricultural Workers. Access to financial support measures is limited to members who have been employed in agriculture or forestry for more than six months in a calendar year.
