MobiliseSME is targeted at owners of small and medium-sized businesses who want to develop their companies and create contacts; and employees who are open to the idea of training while working abroad.
“The experience can really boost a person’s career, by providing them with unique training and letting them create contacts in other countries that they can bring back to their home company,” explains Stefan Moritz, managing director of European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, the leading partner in the project.
More than 300 companies signed up to the pilot scheme, which was launched in November, with exchanges taking place until the end of June. Participants registered, created profiles and sought the perfect match for their needs based on location, language and sector.
Jim Deves, an entrepreneur in the IT sector, runs TheRightClick.gr, based in Greece. For him, MobiliseSME has been a great opportunity to develop his network and share knowledge with new European partners.
He teamed up with a German company, CCVossel, and an Estonian company, Nikitech, both specialising in the development of IT solutions. Jim had worked with Nikitech on other projects and proposed an exchange between their staff. And he was happy to find a new partner in CCVossel via MobiliseSME.
At the start of June, TheRightClick.gr hosted Jaan Tohver from Estonia, an expert on mobile apps, and software developer Vincent Petritz from CCVossel. They’ve been combining their expertise to test and develop IT technologies, and have discussed how to exchange knowledge about working methods and approaches.
“This has been a very interesting experience, personally and on a business level,” says Jim. “I could learn from how other Europeans work and what business is like in other countries. And we now have points of contact in other markets, like Estonia. It truly reflected the project’s slogan: Mobile People. Mobile Enterprises. Mobile Europe.”
Vincent was also very enthusiastic. “I wish all my colleagues could have such an experience, to get in touch with another working culture – so I hope MobiliseSME will continue as a permanent programme,” he says.
The project is financed by the EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI), which is managed directly by the European Commission. It brings together three employment programmes: EURES, PROGRESS and Progress Microfinance.
